Martin O’Donnell MB MRCPI, Assistant Professor and William Walsh Chair in Internal Medicine, Dept. of Medicine, McMaster University, graduated from medical school in 1994 (University College Cork, Ireland). Following initial clinical training in Internal and Geriatric medicine in Ireland, he moved to McMaster University in 2000 to complete Fellowships in both Geriatric (2000-‘01) and Thrombosis medicine (2002-‘03). More recently, he completed additional training in Stroke Medicine at Stanford University (2004). He held a Fellowship award from the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada/CIHR (2002-‘05) and recently received a Clinical Trials Mentoring Program Award from CIHR (2005-’07).
He is currently completing a PhD in Health Research Methodology and is principal investigator on numerous research projects, including two clinical trials. Vascular medicine, particularly Stroke medicine, is the focus of his research career. He has published numerous peer-reviewed articles, book chapters and reviews.
