Dr. Lee is a consultant in the Thrombosis Service at the Hamilton Health Sciences Henderson Hospital and is a member of the Division of Hematology. She has held several prestigious research awards including a New Investigator Award from the Canadian Institutes of Health Research/Rx&D Research Program and Research Fellowships from the Heart and Stroke Scientific Research Corporation of Canada and the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada.

Dr Lee’s research interest is in thrombotic disease in high-risk populations, with a focus on venous thromboembolism in patients with malignancy. She was the co-principal investigator of the CLOT in Cancer trial, a landmark study that established low-molecular-weight heparin as the treatment of choice for preventing recurrent venous thromboembolism in cancer patients. Her other research activities include studies in catheter-related thrombosis, diagnosis of deep vein thrombosis and pulmonary embolism in pregnant women, and thromboprophylaxis in patients undergoing major orthopedic surgery. She is also involved in translational research exploring the role of coagulation in cancer biology and has an interest in phase II/III development of novel anticoagulants.
