Educational Objectives

The Director of the Henderson Research Centre, Dr. Jeffrey Weitz, reports to the President and Chief Executive Officer of the Hamilton Health Sciences and to the Hamilton Health Sciences, Board of Directors.

The Henderson Research Centre has three main programmes which interact closely. These are: Experimental Thrombosis and Atherosclerosis (ETA) under the Directorship of Dr. Jeffrey Weitz; Clinical Trials Methodology (CTM) under the Directorship of Dr. Mark Levine; and the Clinical Thromboembolism (CTE) under the Directorship of Dr. Sam Schulman. In addition, there is an active research group in bone metabolism headed by Dr. Stephen Shaughnessy.

We have close ties with investigators based at the Hamilton Regional Cancer Centre which is located at the Henderson General Hospital. Associate memberships are offered to clinical investigators at the Hamilton Health Sciences who are involved in collaborative research and to other investigators in the McMaster community and in other Medical Schools in Canada and abroad, who are involved in a significant way in collaborative research with members of the Henderson Research Centre.
